Dietz Captures Dream Race Glory at Port Royal Speedway
Port Royal, PA (August 16, 2025)
Chase Dietz etched his name into Port Royal Speedway history on Saturday night, scoring the biggest win of his career in the 19th Annual Living Legends Dream Race. Dietz outdueled Ashton Torgerson in a thrilling mid-race restart to pocket a $20,000 payday, his second victory of the 2025 season at the Juniata County oval.
Early Stages
The 30-lap A-Main rolled off with Ashton Torgerson (1A) and Chase Dietz (23) sharing the front row. Torgerson got the jump and quickly established command, stretching his lead to more than two seconds while Dietz worked through traffic to keep pace. Behind them, Brock Zearfoss and Justin Whittall traded blows inside the top five, with Danny Dietrichmounting a charge from seventh and Lance Dewease biding his time from eighth on the grid.
The Turning Point
Just past halfway, Torgerson’s advantage began to shrink as Dietz steadily closed in. With 12 laps remaining, the caution waved for Steven Snyder Jr., who slowed to a stop in turn four. The yellow set up the race’s defining moment.
On the restart, Torgerson protected the bottom line into turn one, but Dietz launched through the middle groove and surged past exiting turn two. From there, the York, PA driver never looked back, pulling away in clean air.
Closing Laps
While Dietz built his margin, Dewease came alive late, slicing past Zearfoss and Whittall on the low side to grab third. The “Fayetteville Flyer” ran out of laps to challenge the leaders but gave the crowd a vintage charge to the podium.
Dietz ultimately took the checkers by more than two seconds, securing his first-ever Dream Race triumph, his second career Port Royal win, and the largest payout of his sprint car career.
