Event Overview

Murray Machining & Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway’s October Long Weekend produced a thrilling two-night sprintcar doubleheader that showcased South Australia’s best on a pristine racing surface.

Night 1’s Bill Wigzell Battle of the Bridge saw Brock Hallett defend his title in commanding fashion, leading flag-to-flag over Daniel Pestka and Craig Vanderstelt in a caution-free 25-lap A-Main.

Hallett backed it up 24 hours later, claiming the Australian Sprintcar Stampede in a dramatic 40-lap feature to sweep the weekend and secure one of the state’s most coveted doubles. Rookie Brad Vaughan impressed with a runner-up finish, while Vanderstelt again landed third.

Supporting classes included Speedcars contesting Rounds 1 and 2 of the SA Blackjack Series—both won by Jack McCarthy, who set a new 15-lap track record—as well as the Junior Sedan Southern Showdown Series Rd 1 and the U-Pull-It Demolition Derby.
