55th Tony Hulman Classic — Terre Haute Action Track
Terre Haute, Indiana — Friday, October 3, 2025
USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship
Event Overview
The 55th Annual Tony Hulman Classic returned to the famed Terre Haute Action Track, continuing one of the most storied traditions in USAC history. Established in 1971, the event honors Indianapolis Motor Speedway patriarch Tony Hulman and remains one of the most coveted prizes in non-wing sprint car racing — the engraved Hulman Classic rifle.
Justin Grant (Ione, CA) finally captured the elusive win after 15 prior attempts, dominating the 30-lap feature aboard the TOPP Motorsports / NOS Energy Drink – TOPP Industries – LA Poly / Maxim-Kistler Chevy, leading 27 circuits en route to his 65th career USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car victory and his first Hulman Classic rifle.
The night paid $10,000 to win and was streamed live on FloRacing, with Modifieds joining the program as support. Veteran Pancho Carter, the 1975 and 1979 Hulman Classic winner, served as grand marshal and presented Grant the ceremonial rifle in Victory Lane.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3 – Terre Haute Action Track
Grant Ends 15-Year Pursuit, Captures First Tony Hulman Classic Rifle
After more than a decade of trying, Justin Grant finally conquered the Hulman Classic — a race that had long eluded even his decorated résumé. Starting fourth, Grant powered around Mitchel Moles on lap 4 and never looked back, building a lead of nearly three seconds before a late caution for Moles’ right-rear tire failure.
Grant maintained control after the restart to take the checkered flag by 1.725 seconds over C.J. Leary, while Ricky Lewis surged from tenth to third for Rod End Supply Hard Charger honors.
“I’ve wanted to win the Hulman awfully bad and we’ve been close a few times — this one feels really good tonight,” said Grant in Victory Lane. “To win it with Pancho Carter here presenting the rifle is really special.”
Pancho Carter’s participation came 50 years after his own first Hulman Classic triumph in 1975.

Driver Quotes
“Even with a big lead, you can burn a half-second a lap if you don’t get in and off right. Some laps were ugly, but as long as they’re hard, they can be ugly.”
— Justin Grant, Winner, 55th Tony Hulman Classic
