Grand Annual Sprint Car Classic Final - Premier Speedway - Warrnambool, VIC
In one of the greatest Australian sprint car races of all time, and not without a little controversy, James McFadden has survived a mid-race mishap with lapped traffic while running second- recovering to win his third Grand Annual Sprint Car Classic at Premier Speedway. Despite being sent into a 360 spin while fighting lapped traffic, J-Mac kept his car running, benefitting from the blend rule and resuming his spot in second for the following restart. J-Mac went to the front with 15 to go, the action no less frenetic in the closing stages, as the 23 controlled the final laps behind it was on like Donkey Kong between Goodyer, Veal, Brock Hallett, Charge and Cory Eliason who peaked late to finish runner-up. Jamie Veal held on to third after controlling the race for periods earlier on.
