COTTAGE GROVE SPEEDWAY in western Oregon has been hosting races for the best part of seven decades. It’s a rich history that for open wheel fans has included, among others, the Outlaws, ASCS, NST, NARC, and all the big names that came with them. The 1/4 mile bullring is wild, fast and thoroughly intimidating. It’s high banked, the cushion is a temperamental beast and there is no wall to save you when you get it all wrong. Standing on the infield during a 410 feature race was like smashing a hornets nest with a chainsaw.
This year, NARC’s Fastest 5 Days in Motorsports Tour in June is the sole 410 sprint car visit to Cottage Grove; they will bring the NW Focus Midgets with them once again. The midgets will also visit in mid-May.
360 sprint cars kick the season off with the Spring Fling and then the Marvin Smith Memorial, one of the most prestigious trophies in the north west will be hotly contested on Memorial Day weekend. SCCT will be back for 360 Speedweek in July.
Limited sprints dominate the open wheel schedule at Cottage Grove with a dozen appearances and the Wingless Sprint Series will visit once in June.
JUSTYN COX was triumphant at Cottage Grove in June 2024, hunting down, passing and holding off Cole Macedo in a thrilling NARC feature race during the Fastest 5 Days in Motorsports. Cox and the 410’s will once again pay just a single visit to Cottage Grove this year, on Friday June 13.
