Ty Gibbs will make his 410 sprint car debut with CB Industries and High Limit Racing this weekend at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas. Gibbs is the 22yr old grandson of legendary NASCAR car owner Joe Gibbs and currently competes in the NASCAR Cup Series. Gibbs competed with CBI at Chili Bowl and has been a regular at Millbridge Speedway in North Carolina in a micro sprint. A video posted to CBI social media on Wednesday confirmed recent chatter about the possibility of Gibbs making his sprint car debut, the same video showed off some behind the scenes footage from car preparation and recent test sessions. The post did not specify any details for the 'select dates' mentioned but one can assume the midweek events and any race in the vicinity of NASCAR competition will be on their radar.
Gibbs' interest in dirt racing has piqued in recent seasons and is believed to be the main influence behind his grandfather's recent reversal of a policy prohibiting his NASCAR drivers from competing in dirt races. The removal of the restriction has seen JGR teammate Christopher Bell resume his extraordinary dirt career and go straight back to victory lane in 410 sprint cars and micro sprints already this year.
