CHICO, CA - History was made in Chico, California. At just 19 years old, Corey Day joined Steve Kinser as the only driver to win the Gold Cup Race of Champions three years in a row. Day’s third crown didn’t come easy — he led early, lost the top spot to Justin Sanders, and then stalked him through traffic before retaking the lead on lap 23. From there he defended relentlessly, threading lapped cars and holding off Sanders to claim the $100,071 payday.
