Good morning sprint car fans, it is Wednesday, August 27th — let’s fire off!
Jason Meyers Racing Shakes Up Driver Lineup
Jason Meyers Racing has confirmed they will finish 2025 as a one-car High Limit Racing team, keeping their focus squarely on the growing national series. With Corey Day splitting time with his NASCAR commitments, the No. 14 seat will rotate among several familiar faces.
-
Daryn Pittman – Skagit Speedway
-
Trey Starks – Port Royal Speedway
-
Justin Sanders – Lernerville, Eldora, Lakeside & Texas
-
Corey Day – Lawrenceburg, Thunderbowl, Bridgeport, Path Valley, Williams Grove, Lucas Oil, & Charlotte World Finals
The shuffle ensures JMR stays competitive in a season where adaptability may be just as valuable as outright speed.
Donny Schatz Teams With Works Limited and Silva Out West
Another major storyline this week — Donny Schatz will team up with veteran crew chief Paul Silva, driving the Works Limited No. W owned by Kevin Kozlowski. The deal covers six upcoming Outlaw races out west, starting Sept. 5–6 at Vado Speedway Park, and rolling through Kern Raceway (Sept. 12), Perris Auto Speedway (Sept. 13), and the Dennis Roth Classic at the Thunderbowl (Sept. 19–20), which pays $83,000 to win.
After parting ways with Tony Stewart Racing earlier this month, Schatz ran a handful of shows with Big Game Motorsports and Lunstra Motorsports before linking up with Silva and Kozlowski for this new run. Schatz made clear it’s not Silva’s famed 57, but the Kozlowski-owned W — and emphasized his excitement at working with one of the sport’s top minds.
Ryan Timms’ Hat-Trick Weekend
Fresh off his Knoxville Nationals crown, Ryan Timms stayed red-hot with a spectacular three-race sweep. He dominated the Harvey Ostermiller Memorial with ASCS in Montana, bagging both nights, then hustled back to South Dakota to notch his second consecutive 410 win at Huset’s Speedway on Sunday night.
Three wins, three different nights, two states, and two series — the Oklahoma teenager is in unstoppable form heading into the late-summer stretch.
Skagit Nationals Kickoff Tonight
The Skagit Nationals don’t officially begin until tomorrow, but the action starts tonight in Alger, Washington with the brand new High Roller Bowler tournament. Teams have been arriving and fans will soon start rolling into town for what promises to be a blockbuster three-day weekend, capped by one of the richest purses in the region.

Louie Vermeil Classic Returns to Calistoga
On the West Coast, the spotlight shifts to wine country as Calistoga Speedway hosts the 14th Louie Vermeil Classic this weekend — the first at the legendary half-mile since 2019. The Northern Auto Racing Club (NARC) 410s join forces with the USAC/CRA non-wing sprints for two nights honoring Louie Vermeil, one of the most important figures in California’s sprint car history.
With more than $130,000 in prize money up for grabs — including $5,000 for Saturday’s winner and $10,000 for Sunday’s champion — drivers face tough choices between chasing NARC points at Calistoga or the six-figure payday at Skagit. Off track, the Classic offers wine tasting, beer sampling, vintage car displays, and Hall of Fame inductions, making it one of the most unique weekends on the calendar. Reserved seating for Saturday has already sold out, while GA tickets remain for Sunday. For those at home, both nights will be carried live on FloRacing.
And that’s today’s sprint-car breakdown for Wednesday, August 27, 2025 — from Jason Meyers Racing’s driver shuffle, Donny Schatz’s western swing with Works Limited and Paul Silva, and Ryan Timms’ hat-trick weekend.
