Hafertepe Jr. Closes In On Sixth Title with Tulsa Victory
Tulsa, OK — Sixteen months after first turning laps around Tulsa Speedway, Sam Hafertepe Jr. reaffirmed his dominance by becoming the track’s first three-time 360 Sprint Car winner, claiming the opening night of the Double Down Showdown. The Texas driver led all 25 laps en route to his 11th ASCS National Tour victory of the season, tightening his grip on a potential sixth career ASCS championship.
Rolling from the pole alongside Sean McClelland, the Sooner Region points leader, Hafertepe hugged the bottom through Turns 1 and 2 to seize control. Three early cautions kept the field bunched and prevented him from breaking free until the second half, when traffic became a factor. McClelland closed from 1.6 seconds back as Hafertepe encountered lapped cars, but neither driver could find clean lanes through the heavy traffic. Hafertepe executed flawlessly to hold on for the win.
Hafertepe extended his championship lead to 166 points with three races remaining on the schedule.

From the drop of the green, Hafertepe Jr. controlled the race from the low groove while McClelland attacked the top. The two broke away from the field early as Covington, Easum, and Benson battled for third. A Lap 3 caution for Austyn Gossel and Kyler Johnson slowed the pace before Hafertepe rebuilt a comfortable lead.
In the closing laps, lapped traffic allowed McClelland to close to within a car length, but Hafertepe maintained composure on the bottom to secure his 11th win of 2025.

Driver Quotes (Official ASCS Release)
Sam Hafertepe Jr. (#15H):
“It gets really hard, and you’ve got to be so patient to hit the bottom that slow. It just makes it really difficult to be that patient… It’s good to get a win tonight. Hopefully we can go down to Creek County and win down there too.”
Sean McClelland (#1):
“I get sick of following that 15H. He’s good, that’s why I rely on him to help me out. He’s my best friend. He don’t know it, but he resurrected my career about six years ago, and I can’t thank him enough for it.”
Terry Easum (#88):
“We know we’re capable, it’s just getting me comfortable in the car. I just need to keep getting better, and we will. We’ll stick it out, and keep at it until we get better to be on a podium more.”
