Event Overview

The 63rd running of the J&S Classics National Open brought sprint car racing’s fiercest rivalry back to Williams Grove Speedway — the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars versus the Pennsylvania Posse — with over $260,000 in total prize money and the coveted $75,000 winner’s check on the line.

The two-night showdown lived up to its reputation as one of the sport’s crown jewels. Friday night saw hometown hero Chase Dietz storm to his first-ever World of Outlaws victory, leading a Posse podium sweep. On Saturday, Sheldon Haudenschild turned heartbreak into triumph, outdueling Bill Balog and Danny Dietrich to finally claim the National Open title.

Narrative Recap

Chase Dietz delivered a career-making performance on Friday night, leading a Pennsylvania Posse 1–2–3 sweep in the 25-lap preliminary feature. The York, PA native chased down defending National Open champion Carson Macedo, sliding into the lead with three laps remaining to secure his first-ever World of Outlaws win.

Veteran Lance Dewease and Danny Dietrich completed the all-Pennsylvania podium, while Macedo and Justin Whittall rounded out the top five.

Dietz became the 155th different winner in series history and gave the local contingent a 3–1 edge in 2025 Outlaw vs. Posse showdowns.

Headline: Natty O-Hi-O – Haudenschild Captures First National Open Title, Outduels Balog and Dietrich

Narrative Recap

After years of near-misses, Sheldon Haudenschild finally added his name to the National Open’s elite list of champions. The Wooster, OH racer methodically worked from the front row, overtaking polesitter Bill Balog with five laps to go in a tense 40-lap finale.

Balog, who dominated much of the race, lost momentum in traffic, allowing Haudenschild to slip by and control the closing laps. Danny Dietrich surged late to take second, while BalogDaryn Pittman, and Buddy Kofoid completed the top five.

The win earned Haudenschild $75,000 and marked his 45th career World of Outlaws victory, becoming the 36th different National Open champion and the first Ohio-born driver to win since 1988.
