It was another action filled Friday night at Deming Speedway on April 25th. All the regular competition was on tap with the first edition of the North West Focus Midgets track championship battle joining the fray.
Junior Sprints
Deming Speedway Junior Sprint competition is thriving, already four winners from four races and it's clear there will be no single dominant driver in the class. Kole Campbell (pictured above) is the latest young-gun to hit the win column, the 2023 track champion returned to form, passing week 3 winner Savanna Hiller late in the feature to claim the victory. Hillier held firm for second and Kayson Sargent completed the top 3. Delilah Stermer set quicktime at 13.328 seconds; Lucas Fisher, Cole Dishneau and Luke Coates all got heat race wins.
Restricted 600
It was more of the same in Restricted 600's with Colton Knapp (pictured above) convincingly winning his third feature in four starts at Deming this season. The little leadfoot from Lyman, WA has been dominant in every aspect of competition. Knapp set quicktime at 11.596 seconds which was followed by another heat race win to add to the 2025 tally. Ryan Cannon, Chase Jensen and Drake Wiersma also won heat races. Hudson Little would finish second in the feature, his best result to date. McKenna Morgan bounced back from week 3 disappointment to score another feature podium. Hunter Cook was notable, charging from a B-main transfer to slide into the top-5 by features end.
NW Focus Midgets
North West Focus Midgets had to wait until week 4 to join the fun at Deming, but they sure didn't disappoint once the opportunity arose. Jeff Westergard shot out of the blocks to claim the first quicktime on dirt for the new season with a lap of 12.177 seconds. Nick Evans (pictured above at Skagit Speedway) and Shane Smith shared the heat race spoils. Evans would claim the big first place trophy at the end of feature, closely followed by Westergard and Smith.
1200's
It was a return to the winners circle for Derek Holmwood in 1200's, the #17 got win number two on the year and put an end to Kyle Mitchell's bid for three straight. Holmwood set the early pace, going quicktime at 11.146 seconds. Terry Lewis and Jaden Thomas were victorious in heat races. In the feature Holmwood led home Nate Vaughn who finished second in his best run of the season to date, Mitchell had to fight for it but ended up completing the podium after two straight weeks at the top.
Open 600
Colin Mackey made the most of his opportunities when they counted in Open 600, scoring win number three of the year, strengthening his points lead and bid for that elusive Open track championship. Week 3 winner Levi Hillier may have headed south to Oregon to race sprint cars but it was anything but smooth sailing for Mackey on Friday. David Greene set quicktime at 11.039 seconds. Dakota Drake returned after a savge wreck in week 2, winning her heat race. Dylan Resch and Sawyer Baxter were the other two heat winners. In the feature it was Mackey leading home Spencer Constance, a second straight runner-up for the #78S. Dylan Resch continued to find speed in his Farrell chassis, rounding out the podium in yet another impressive showing.
